I’m Emily Franz, an American artist who makes  my home in a quiet suburb just south of Chicago.  I truly love painting and have a deep desire to paint the things I love that invoke my spirit and my muse, all the while hoping to make a connection with YOUR heart, spirit and life.  Collage is another love of mine and I enjoy creating artwork from paper. It’s such an intuitive process.

My paintings are done on canvas using acrylic paint.  I love color, layering and mark making.   When I begin a painting I never really know where it’s going to take me.  The process guides me and dictates the outcome.  This way of working provides me with lots of surprises along the way.  Music, literature and poetry inspire me as well as my intuition, which guides me the throughout the entire creative process.
